I’ve been thinking a lot about that word.

First, there’s the obvious connection. Our partner Wayne Taylor Racing kicked off their 2017 season at the 55th Rolex 24 at Daytona, introducing the brand new No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R. In its first official race appearance, their speed and technology resulted in victory! (more…)

Konica Minolta Wishes You a Happy Holiday

, President and Chief Executive Officer

holiday-image2016 is drawing to a close. This has been a big year of firsts for Konica Minolta because of the hard work and dedication of our employees.

We have created the Workplace of the Future,™ staking our claim as the leader in office innovation. Work is not where you are. Work is what you get done. We will transform work, allowing companies and their employees to work more productively, more efficiently and more collaboratively and, especially, more securely.

We have expanded our offerings in the print production space, opening up exciting new revenue streams for our graphic communication clients. Our flagship AccurioJet KM-1 puts us firmly in the digital inkjet market, enabling commercial printers to produce high-quality offset print jobs and develop highly personalized short-run applications. The bizhub PRESS C71cf is a new digital press for the label and packaging industry, benefitting businesses as they transition from conventional printing to digital technology. The C71cf is the first of many new products that supports our strategy in the label and packaging industry market.

Follow Your Passion in the Spirit of Giving

, President and Chief Executive Officer

Golf is my passion. I like what golf can teach the individual.

Integrity: Golf is unique in that the players call penalties on themselves.

How to recover from adversity: Golf and life have bad lies, bad bounces and uncontrollable conditions. How you react, recover and prevail against adversity is a great lesson.

Etiquette: Golfers take turns, keep quiet while others are taking their shot and dress appropriately. Not bad advice in business.

Charity: The PGA tour has contributed more than $8 million to local charities!

    Xmas Image 2

The holidays are a time of joy and goodwill. Never have those sentiments been as necessary as now.

We hear every day of tragedy and hatred. Events that make us wonder what has happened to humanity. It is very easy to allow these actions to negatively impact our lives. It is very easy to close ourselves off and live in fear and doubt.

But that is not our way. I see every day how every one of you continues to embody what is good about this world. Your kindnesses are simple: holding the elevator or paying for a colleague’s coffee. Your kindnesses are large: embracing the myriad corporate citizenship initiatives that we support. From growing beards to planting gardens, collecting books to stuffing backpacks, with each gesture, each effort to lend a hand, you make it known that Konica Minolta cares about every person on this planet.

Adapting to Maintain Our Innovation Edge

, President and Chief Executive Officer

    Blog-Taylor

This is both an exciting time and a challenging time to be in our industry.

New revenue streams are developing: enterprise information and content management, mobility and cloud, managed IT services, production and industrial print. All of these avenues lead to new opportunities for both our direct and dealer channels. And all of these avenues put an even greater emphasis on providing an unparalleled customer experience.

While we see great growth in many areas, we must also look to the changing landscape of modern business. Employees – and employers – want and need new technology that will enable them to work anytime, anywhere. We must adapt our business to support the workforce of the future.

The Secret to a Successful Career

, President and Chief Executive Officer

graduationNow is the time for graduations, so I thought I’d take a moment to share with you my version of a commencement address, since I haven’t been asked to give one yet. (Side note to the University of Kansas: I’m available!)

Most addresses exhort graduates to stay true to themselves, to work hard, to follow their dreams and, after a long and happy career, to retire into the sunset. But how do you achieve that? How do you find happiness in what you do?

Konica Minolta takes a big Step Forward

, President and Chief Executive Officer

I am happy to be part of a great company initiative: the creation of an employee group focused on giving the women of Konica Minolta ongoing inspiration and support to help them achieve their goals. The group, Step Forward, will be a platform to encourage women to pursue their ambitions and change conversations in the workplace.

KM_BlogStepForwardImageStep Forward is so important to all of us here at Konica Minolta. Addressing the particular needs and concerns of women in the workplace is so important to us all.

I am so proud of the strong women in my own life: My grandmother, who owned a newsstand at the Wichita, Kansas, Union railroad station; and my mother, who started her career after raising a family and who worked closely with the CEO. I look back at their professional paths as I look forward to my daughter’s path. When Katy graduates college, she will have earned three degrees and studied in four countries. Her career is in front of her. My family is a perfect example of the increasing opportunities that women, through the generations, have been given.

May All Your Holidays be Merry

, President and Chief Executive Officer

As we prepare for the upcoming holidays, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on our Konica Minolta family.

This has been a very good year for us. From a business perspective, we have continued to lead the industry, launching products from our flagship C1100 production printer to our cloud-storage FileAssist solution. We have pushed into enterprise content management with the acquisition of companies across the country. We have continued to grow the business across all verticals. We have also continued to expand our dealer partnerships, deepening and strengthening relationships.

    5 Traits of Effective Leadership

, President and Chief Executive Officer

    What makes a great leader?

I use “leader” instead of “executive” because I believe that although many employees may be promoted into an executive position, not everyone can become a leader.

That difference is critical to the success of a company. Effective leadership transforms a business.

    Cancer Awareness: It’s personal

, President and Chief Executive Officer

    “You have cancer.”

Those three words create a maelstrom of emotions. I know. I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2009.

Think PinkThanks to a conversation with Michael Leonczyk, who was Konica Minolta’s Chief Financial Officer at the time, I knew that my back pain and other symptoms needed immediate attention, despite the fact that I was getting on a plane in the morning for a family golf vacation. Michael had been battling kidney cancer for three months when I walked in to that Las Vegas emergency room. Doctors would remove my left kidney and a malignant tumor the size of a fist.

Kidney cancer is a pass/fail disease. Caught early enough, it has a 97 percent cure rate. I was lucky. And, this past June, I marked five years of being cancer free. Mike was not lucky. He lost his battle after my diagnosis.

Not a day goes by that I don’t thank him for that conversation back in 2009. I have a different perspective on the world. Having cancer changes what’s important.
