  • How can a Hosted Workspace Benefit You?

, Vice President, Marketing, All Covered IT Services from Konica Minolta

    Print

In today’s business environment, portability is everything. Smartphones, tablets and ultrabooks have allowed executives to stay connected at all times, even in the middle of a flight!

Smart workplaces implement BYOD (bring your own device) policies to encourage their staff to stay productive even when outside the office. But they represent a minority at this point in time: most workplaces haven’t yet made the leap to BYOD, citing worries about security and problems with provisioning data to every device as their last stumbling blocks.

These quickly become non-issues with the adoption of a hosted workspace – a desktop environment provisioned from a remote server. To help you achieve a smart workplace, All Covered will launch a new service called All Covered Workspaces. This is a fully managed Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solution allowing you to access your business desktops, applications and data remotely.

    Mastering the Mobile Workplace

, Vice President, Marketing, All Covered IT Services from Konica Minolta

15-KON-0377_Mobility_eBook_F.inddHow much time do you spend on your smart phone each day? Probably a lot. And, for the majority of us, it’s increasing. A 2014 study from mobile measurement and advertising platform Flurry revealed that on average, Americans spend 162 minutes on mobile devices each day.

With so much time spent on smart phones and tablets, it’s not surprising that employees use their mobile devices for work-related tasks. While this trend offers a number of benefits in terms of productivity and flexibility, it doesn’t come without risks. Allowing a host of unmonitored devices to connect to a company’s network can make it many times more vulnerable to security breaches, non-compliance issues, data loss or corruption.

So how can organizations encourage a mobile-friendly work environment while addressing these risks? If you’re going to allow mobile devices to connect to your network, you need to manage them properly, which involves an enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution.

The Facts about Windows Server 2003 End of Support

, Vice President, Marketing, All Covered IT Services from Konica Minolta

WS-EOL-Campaign_500You may remember the buzz last year when Microsoft pulled the plug on its support of Windows XP. Less publicized, but perhaps even more critical, is the end of support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003. That is scheduled for July 14, 2015. Many businesses may be unaware, but there’s a good chance their most important computers are running on this soon-to-be-outdated operating system. They may be equally unaware that hanging on to Windows Server 2003 after Microsoft ends support in July will cost them plenty and could put their business at risk.

Going Beyond File Storage with FileAssist

, Vice President, Solutions and Product Planning

You may have recently seen the announcement that Microsoft and Dropbox are joining forces.

This is a major shift in online storage and file syncing as the two notable software giants struggle to compete with companies like Box and smaller companies like Evernote and FileBound. There is a growing investment in fully integrated document management solutions like Xerox’s Docushare, Hyland’s OnBase and IBM’s FileNet. Overall, the field is a myriad of providers and the leaders are the ones that own the business relationship and not the ones that cater to consumers.

    How Vulnerable Is Your Business?

, Vice President, Marketing, All Covered IT Services from Konica Minolta

Customers, regardless of size or vertical industry, continuously tell us that security remains a top concern. It’s easy to see why when the news is filled with data breach stories regarding Kmart, Target, Dropbox, NATO, JP Morgan Chase, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services and St. Joseph Health System (just to name a few).

No business or organization is immune. Cyber security has become such a big concern that the Department of Homeland Security has declared October National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

The Long-term Benefits of Managed Print Services

, Senior Vice President, Business Intelligence Services

Managed Print Service (MPS) offerings have matured and customer expectations drive well beyond the simple cost consolidation and fleet optimization offered in the past.

When we launched our Optimized Print Services (OPS) back in 2008, customers were mainly concerned about cost management and reducing print assets. While this remains a key driver, customers now expect their strategic partner to combine consultancy, workflow efficiencies, print fleet optimization, software integration, service and support for hardware and implementation services. Looking Forward in the New Year

, Senior Vice President, Business Intelligence Services and Product Planning

When we look forward to the next 12 months, the biggest challenge for technology providers in the imaging industry will be to adapt to a changing market landscape. In the past few years, the office technology business has continued to evolve to encompass all solutions and services that focus on documents. This includes print and production print as well as content management, workflow, mobile, social and the cloud.   Over the next few years, customers will continue to seek out providers that can deliver the solutions and services required to meet all of their document needs, and we would like to be on the cutting edge of that need.

We see a lot of growth opportunities for Konica Minolta in 2014 as a result of our strategy to transform from a hardware-only provider to a company that provides solutions, services and hardware as part of its total package.  By expanding our EnvisionIT platform into new vertical markets, growing our software portfolio and investing in IT services, we are now able to offer multiple vertical customers a complete solution for managing their document needs, whether it is in printing, workflow or cloud-based document storage.
