As an enthusiastic wine maker, I’m always drawn to the feelings that wine brings to me: relaxation, good company, family, fun. I believe I share these feelings with many others who look for the same connections in life. Whether I make the wine or buy it, I always think that one of the most important aspects is the presentation, led by the label. What’s a better way to attract attention than a high-quality foil and varnished label? I feel the same way about our technology. At the end of the day, there is always a person, like me, who wants to offer creativity to the world.

Our quest to bring new and exciting solutions that draw the kind of feelings I noted above is always ongoing. One great example is our investment in the MGI Digital Graphic Technology product line. A French-based leading decorative printing equipment manufacturer, MGI doesn’t just give Konica Minolta a clear point of difference in its growing product line, but our customers get one as well – along with an opportunity to jump into a growing market.

    How does it do this?

The MGI products provide attractive finishing features with such solutions as JETvarnish 3DS, which makes a 3D tactile varnish finish available to all digital printers.  It can turn a regular print job into a high-margin spot UV job, or even a higher-margin 3D embossed job. This increases a print shop’s profit margin and gives it a unique finishing feature that perhaps its competitors cannot offer.

The end-products that the JETvarnish 3DS generates are absolutely eye-catching with raised foil images, hot foil stamping and embossing abilities.  This includes gorgeous labels for short-run packaging, stunning product brochures, and striking promotional posters for such vibrant industries as entertainment, fashion and jewelry.

We’re thrilled to partner with MGI. We will soon have access to their entire product line for commercial print, label and packaging solutions. This positions us to support not just the commercial print market, but the exciting and lucrative high-end industrial market as well.  Additionally, Konica Minolta proudly manufactures the print engines and inkjet heads in various MGI products.  You’ve heard the marketing tagline, “Intel inside”?  The JETvarnish tagline could be “Konica Minolta inside.”

Adding these amazing products and features to our product line allows us to enter a market in which we and our customers never had opportunities. Few competitors can claim to offer such attractive solutions to the market.  We recently participated in drupa, the world’s leading trade show for graphic and industrial print held in Germany. At the press conference hosted by our parent company, Konica Minolta Inc., the main message was our expansion into the growing label and packaging markets.

Our partnership with MGI comes at a very appropriate time. It allows us to earn our share of this growing market opportunity and demonstrate for our customers how we will help them stand out in the competitive graphics communications space.
