  • The Continuing Evolution of the Print Production Market

, Vice President, Graphic Communications & Industrial Print

Print17_revisedIn the print production market, including Graphic Communications and Industrial Printing, customers’ needs and expectations have changed over the last 30 years. As printing technology has changed, the method and means of production has changed, but print quality and impact are still the most important considerations. As digital quality levels and speeds keep increasing, new communication channels (email, social, etc.) and print embellishments or decorations (such as with our MGI solutions) have been the moving factors that continue to reset expectations for end customers. education_imageWith all of the wonderful benefits attributed to technology in our lives, the one that education enjoys most, I believe, is the collaboration it brings to students and educators. As an educator myself, when I peer into my crystal ball, I’m thrilled to see greater inclusion increasing thanks to two critical components streaming into school districts and their classrooms: More advanced educational technology and the necessary funding to pay for it.

Schools have collaborative learning technologies such as interactive whiteboards that have replaced ancient dusty chalk boards and online homework portals where students always have access to lessons and assignments – the latter being critical for students who missed a class. But there’s even more grandiose technology coming in 2017 and beyond not just because schools have to implement it to keep their classrooms as technologically current as possible, but because of decreasing costs of technological devices and more available funding. This is especially beneficial to urban school districts that previously couldn’t bring innovative technology to their students.

Here’s the technology that I see finding greater favor in educational environments: (more…)

Work is not where you are. Work is what you get done. We firmly believe that at Konica Minolta. And the statistics back us up. By the year 2020:

    • There will be 5 billion more people online. That means even more people connected to a device.
    • There will be 25 billion more connected devices in the world. Those billions of people will be able to make better decisions because data will be more readily available.
    • More than one-third of our global workforce will be freelancers. These workers will not have the same needs for office space but will need enhanced connectivity.

Decades of Expertise Gives AccurioJet KM-1 Market Uniqueness

, Vice President, Product Management and Planning

Years ago our industry’s analysts predicted the “paperless office” that was to come with the advent of the digital age, bringing with it the demise of print. Now, decades later, I see a glass that’s half full thanks to industry trends – in growth areas such as industrial and specialty, with a growing high speed inkjet digital color press market projected to grow an astounding 38 percent by 2020 — which we’re well-positioned to take advantage of with our new AccurioJet KM-1 high speed cut sheet UV inkjet press. As high-profile breaches continue to increase and flood the news every week, so does attention to the growing concern of protecting all types of data. Hackers have discovered that one of the easiest routes to a corporation’s data is through third parties. (more…)

    Step_Forward_Logo

A year ago, we made a promise to the women of Konica Minolta to help them advance in their careers.

A year ago, Step Forward was created to do just that.

I am so proud of this initiative, both personally and as the executive sponsor, to be able to offer a forum to empower women at all career levels. Step Forward has opened doors, started conversations, shined a light on where we are and where we need to go. (more…)

To develop and deepen our relationships with you, we must understand your needs.   The best way to do that is to ask.  At Konica Minolta, we capture this “Voice of the Customer” in a number of ways.  One of these methods is through a variety of customer surveys.

Our annual customer experience survey is a relationship survey that puts a finger on the pulse of our customers like you at a specific point in time. It also serves as a window into the health of our relationship with you.  We conduct customer experience surveys for different audiences, including office product customers, print production customers and our dealers. As I stood in front of 40 Konica Minolta executives and dealers, I was struck by the fact that this wasn’t a typical meeting. Office chairs were replaced with couches and the room echoed with spontaneous gasps and “wows.” This was the WorkSmart Startup Showcase.

The Startup Showcase occurs several times a year and highlights best-in-class emerging technologies. At the most-recent showcase, Greg Lok, WorkSmart Strategy Lead, highlighted products and solutions that enable a unified smart office. From improving meetings and communications to managing guests and understanding physical layouts, these products are designed to improve the way the workplace functions. They aren’t meant to replace workers but instead free them to focus on higher-value tasks.

Our Prescription for Security and HIPAA Compliance

    HIPAA Blog Image

Identity theft has become epidemic in the United States — and across the world for that matter. It seems as if we hear about major breaches of personal data on a weekly basis, and now healthcare data breaches are becoming more and more prevalent. Nearly 42 million people have had their protected health information (PHI) breached since 2009.

Over the past couple of years, a number of organizations, including Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Community Health Systems (CHS) and Xerox Healthcare, have experienced massive PHI breaches. The Anthem breach affected nearly 80 million records. A breach at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission put the state out of HIPAA compliance. And finally, CHS had 4.5 million patient records stolen by cyber criminals.

Our Redesigned Website: Talking Directly to the Customer

, Senior Vice President, Business Intelligence Services and Product Planning

home pageOur redesigned website personifies everything that we at Konica Minolta are doing for our customers.

It welcomes visitors with bold, bright colors, a clean design and simplified layout and uses a more intuitive user interface that speaks directly to four of our primary customer segments via new persona pages — something we haven’t offered before.

By focusing the website on buyer personas, we are able to develop content and design elements that speak to business owners, office professionals, IT professionals and graphic professionals. Each segment is able to self-identify and choose content specific to their needs.

The site’s refreshed and simplified look and enhanced content is improved and optimized for mobile and smart devices for greater reach and a more-engaging user experience.

You’ll find that it highlights content focused on Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Document Management and Automated Workflow solutions for our four primary segments — Legal, Healthcare, Education, Government and Finance — again, speaking directly to customers and prospects in those vertical markets.
