    The Facts about Windows Server 2003 End of Support

    WS-EOL-Campaign_500You may remember the buzz last year when Microsoft pulled the plug on its support of Windows XP. Less publicized, but perhaps even more critical, is the end of support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003. That is scheduled for July 14, 2015. Many businesses may be unaware, but there’s a good chance their most important computers are running on this soon-to-be-outdated operating system. They may be equally unaware that hanging on to Windows Server 2003 after Microsoft ends support in July will cost them plenty and could put their business at risk.

    A great proverb says, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”  For 25 years, I sold leasing programs to dealers and manufacturers like Konica Minolta.  My success came by focusing intensely on my client’s needs and exceeding their expectations.  Now that I’m at Konica Minolta, I have found that the principles and practices of connection and enduring partnerships are exactly the same. It doesn’t matter which side of the desk I sit on.  For that matter, whether you’re a salesman, a president, a wife or a friend, these three principles apply to every strong relationship in our lives.

    As we prepare for the upcoming holidays, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on our Konica Minolta family.

    This has been a very good year for us. From a business perspective, we have continued to lead the industry, launching products from our flagship C1100 production printer to our cloud-storage FileAssist solution. We have pushed into enterprise content management with the acquisition of companies across the country. We have continued to grow the business across all verticals. We have also continued to expand our dealer partnerships, deepening and strengthening relationships.

It’s easy to see why when the news is filled with data breach stories regarding Kmart, Target, Dropbox, NATO, JP Morgan Chase, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services and St. Joseph Health System (just to name a few).

    No business or organization is immune. Cyber security has become such a big concern that the Department of Homeland Security has declared October National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

    At a media event this summer, Konica Minolta executives unveiled our “Blueprint for the Future,” which focuses on delivering more value to the customer. While the Blueprint emphasizes our transformation from a hardware company to a solutions and services company, it also highlights a fundamental change in the company’s DNA from being an expert on the product to an expert on the customer. In order for our customers to see us as experts, we continuously need to listen to and understand their business challenges and needs.

    Konica Minolta’s customer-first approach is exemplified by the way that our product development team incorporates customer feedback into new product releases. Last week, we released a new version of our automated workflow software application, Dispatcher Phoenix 4.2. All the new features are a direct result of customer feedback.

    Girl and microscopeThis past summer, my 12-year-old daughter attended the Beuhler Challenger & Science Center Rocket Girls Science and Astronomy Camp. It was a week-long day camp focusing on encouraging girls to use science, math and technology to shape their futures. They built and launched rockets and learned about astronomy and women in aviation. Especially touching to me was the session about Sally Ride, the first female in space, who was also a professor of physics at the University of California, San Diego, my alma mater. My daughter came home daily with new facts, excited to share her learnings, and reciting the names of the planets and facts about our solar system at every opportunity. Fueling passion for science, technology, engineering and math, often referred to as STEM, during childhood is extremely important to our nation’s students and our future as a global leader. (more…)

    On July 9, 2014, we held the Print Production Technology Showcase and Blueprint for the Future at our New York City Customer Engagement Center.

    This event allowed industry media and analysts the opportunity to see our flagship digital color production printer bizhub PRESS C1100, plus our top-of-the-line monochrome bizhub PRESS 2250P and our high-volume color bizhub PRESS C1085. It also gave media and analysts the opportunity to hear success stories and speak directly with our early-placement customers of the bizhub PRESS C1100, all of whom gave glowing reviews about our signature production printer. This real-world feedback is critical to proclaiming a successful product launch and demonstrating our portfolio’s value to customers. (more…)
