  • 10 Technologies Driving the Workplace of the Future™

, Director of Integrated Marketing, All Covered

WotF eBookWorking for a company that provides technology solutions means that it’s important for me to keep on top of technology trends. One clear way to do this is to look at current All Covered clients to see what challenges have been top of mind over the last year and to determine what services have been paramount to ongoing operations. The other valuable way is to look to industry leaders, such as Gartner.

I recently wrote the eBook (along with some very talented people here in the Konica Minolta marketing department), 10 Technologies Driving the Workplace of the Future™, and I knew I had to streamline intelligence from these various sources in order to make this eBook both accurate and interesting. In writing it, here are some of the most interesting developments I noticed:

Businesses want (and need) processes to be increasingly “smart.” From a simple profit standpoint, this makes total sense. Businesses want to assure that their resources – from employees to computers and servers – are being utilized efficiently. Companies also want to receive the best data they can on what is and isn’t working for them. That’s why I knew it was important to talk about both customer relationship management and business intelligence as well as digital ecosystems as technologies driving the Workplace of the Future. It’s clear that information gathering and sharing can empower a business if done properly – through solutions like robust, custom CRM solutions – as well as encouraging a connection between your products and services and your employees – allowing for smart decision-making. Konica Minolta Wishes You a Happy Holiday

, President and Chief Executive Officer

holiday-image2016 is drawing to a close. This has been a big year of firsts for Konica Minolta because of the hard work and dedication of our employees.

We have created the Workplace of the Future,™ staking our claim as the leader in office innovation. Work is not where you are. Work is what you get done. We will transform work, allowing companies and their employees to work more productively, more efficiently and more collaboratively and, especially, more securely.

We have expanded our offerings in the print production space, opening up exciting new revenue streams for our graphic communication clients. Our flagship AccurioJet KM-1 puts us firmly in the digital inkjet market, enabling commercial printers to produce high-quality offset print jobs and develop highly personalized short-run applications. The bizhub PRESS C71cf is a new digital press for the label and packaging industry, benefitting businesses as they transition from conventional printing to digital technology. The C71cf is the first of many new products that supports our strategy in the label and packaging industry market.

With A Digital Label, Yes, It’s Personal

, Vice President, Product Management and Planning

I have a bottle of wine that was given to me by a close friend. I never drank it; not because I don’t believe I’ll like the taste, but because I love the label so much I just don’t want to drink it and have to discard the bottle. I show it to friends, it’s so attractive. That’s the thing about high-quality labels – they can add a personal aspect to everything that we do.

labelMost of us take labels for granted. How could you not when we see them every day on practically every item we buy? But much time and effort goes into creating them, from conception to production, in order to help get that product to attract buyers and make it memorable from a branding perspective. This is quite a responsibility for something taken for granted.

Konica Minolta doesn’t take labels for granted, which is one reason why we’ve introduced innovative digital solutions like the bizhub PRESS C71cf for printers’ label shops. This unique press represents the culmination of digital printing technology and high-end digital performance at a lower cost to create new opportunities for a label shop to increase its profits, productivity and customer satisfaction.

Another reason is the size of the market. According to the TLMI 2015 Digital Label Survey, the North American digital printed label revenue stands at just over $1 billion. That total will rise dramatically as the survey noted that three in every four press installations by the year 2020 will be digital, providing greater opportunities for printers to create memorable labels for their customers. Who are the current biggest users of labels? The survey reported that the top three biggest markets using labels are pharmaceutical, consumer durables and health and beauty.

Adapting to Maintain Our Innovation Edge

This is both an exciting time and a challenging time to be in our industry.

New revenue streams are developing: enterprise information and content management, mobility and cloud, managed IT services, production and industrial print. All of these avenues lead to new opportunities for both our direct and dealer channels. And all of these avenues put an even greater emphasis on providing an unparalleled customer experience.

While we see great growth in many areas, we must also look to the changing landscape of modern business. Employees – and employers – want and need new technology that will enable them to work anytime, anywhere. We must adapt our business to support the workforce of the future.

    Delivering Value to Graphic Communications

, Vice President, Solutions and Product Planning

I am often asked, “Can Konica Minolta claim market leadership in the production space?” While the analysts might still be deciding who the leaders are, I believe the facts are in our favor. The success of the bizhub PRESS C8000 propelled us to a leadership position in the mid-market production print segment and our product road map will help expand that into the upmarket segments. Our growing solution portfolio sets us apart by helping commercial printers drive efficiencies and expand business opportunities. As proof, we are the ONLY equipment manufacturer that is gaining in market share and in gross revenue. I believe we are leaders in this space and GRAPH EXPO 14 is the perfect time to demonstrate it.

As we prepare for the biggest graphics communication trade show of the year, it’s the perfect time to showcase the value Konica Minolta’s EnvisionIT Production portfolio provides customers.

Girl and microscopeThis past summer, my 12-year-old daughter attended the Beuhler Challenger & Science Center Rocket Girls Science and Astronomy Camp. It was a week-long day camp focusing on encouraging girls to use science, math and technology to shape their futures. They built and launched rockets and learned about astronomy and women in aviation. Especially touching to me was the session about Sally Ride, the first female in space, who was also a professor of physics at the University of California, San Diego, my alma mater. My daughter came home daily with new facts, excited to share her learnings, and reciting the names of the planets and facts about our solar system at every opportunity. Fueling passion for science, technology, engineering and math, often referred to as STEM, during childhood is extremely important to our nation’s students and our future as a global leader. (more…)
