Improving the Competitive Edge for the AEC Industry

    , President, Enterprise Content Management

    ECM2 (2)

Since the 1980s, computer aided design (CAD) software has been a critical component of the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries. These systems – including Autodesk®, Dassault Systèmes and Bentley Systems® – are used for designing and engineering plans/blueprints for products and building projects. Within their CAD systems, engineers can view a design from any angle with the click of a mouse and zoom in or out. For many organizations, their CAD system is a core business system from which their business processes revolve around. Using CAD software is more than just producing drawings though. Today’s projects also include contract specifications, change requests and purchasing documents. The challenge is that most of these supporting documents are stored separately, either in different physical places or on network file shares, so it’s hard for companies to get that complete picture of a project. That’s why an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system is so helpful for AEC companies. (more…)

    , President, Enterprise Content Management

    IM misconceptions

Information and paper are two things that companies handle every day and both cost businesses a lot of money. It doesn’t matter if your company is big or small, dealing with information management and paper processes affect us all.

Managing information and paper without an information management strategy can bring bottlenecks into your processes, which can increase financial and regulatory risks and damage vendor and customer relationships. If your operation falls into the small or medium business (SMB) space, you may not feel the pain as severely as if you operate a large enterprise organization where order needs to reign so your hundreds or thousands of employees can all operate efficiently.

Over the past decade, the topic of information management has been getting more traction as increasing numbers of organizations adopt new solutions to manage their information and reduce their reliance on paper. But, there are still many companies that haven’t put a priority on implementing an enterprise content management (ECM) system and have not developed an information management strategy.

As you research a strategy, we’d like to clear up the top four information management misconceptions.

7 Benefits of a Paperless (aka ECM) Solution

    , President, Enterprise Content Management

We know that every organization has its own unique set of business challenges.

Whether you’re a manufacturing company producing auto parts or a pharmaceutical company producing heart medication, you both deal with paper. And, in most cases, too much of it. When you hear the term “Go Paperless,” most people think it means that paper is completely removed. That’s neither accurate nor possible. What going paperless really means is that you pinpoint the areas of your business that are paper-heavy, manually driven and time-consuming and then streamline those areas to improve efficiency. Streamlining will involve some type of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution that utilizes workflow and automation to replace those processes that are slowing you down and costing you too much time and money.
