October was an exciting month at our Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. headquarters in Ramsey, NJ. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we hosted the formal ribbon cutting of “Project Sunway.” A 967,000 kWh solar energy system installed in the parking lots of Konica Minolta’s offices, Project Sunway will produce 15-18 percent of the energy needs for the buildings. Based on standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, this project will offset the CO2 emissions from 132 passenger vehicles, or the electricity used by 84 homes per year.
Moving into November, we celebrate more success in the area of environmental awareness with a recent announcement coming from parent company Konica Minolta, Inc. that it has achieved a position in both the CDP Japan 500 Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) and the CDP Japan 500 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI). The CDP, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project, is an international, not-for-profit organization providing the only global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage and share vital environmental information.
Konica Minolta, Inc. has also announced acceptance into the EICC (Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition). Global corporations seek acceptance into the coalition with the goal of working towards improving efficiency and social, ethical, and environmental responsibility in the global supply chain.
As our management philosophy continues to focus heavily on sustainability and corporate social responsibility, we consider these recent events as evidence of our success and further impetus for such workWWW. Under the communication message “Giving Shape to Ideas,” we strive to keep developing new ideas to help reduce carbon emissions throughout the entire supply chain for the global environment. Customers continue to rely on Konica Minolta for solutions that deliver superior performance, and those are driven by efforts to reduce our overall impact on the environment.
