Is Advertising Dead? Tips For Creating A Compelling Content Strategy To Stand Out In A Crowded Market

, Director of Marketing Communications (Global Workplace Hub Group & North America)

Consumers receive between 3,500 to 5,000 messages every day. Advertising has now become white noise that frankly speaking, people find irritating – myself included. I’m aware of the irony here, given my chosen and much enjoyed profession! This is particularly true if the advertisement interrupts the thing you are trying to do. Just think about that video featured on your Facebook feed that you clicked on, only to find it interrupted mid-way through with an advertisement. I for one, immediately turn off the video, irritated that my viewing experience has been interrupted, albeit for only 60 seconds. (more…)

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend my first Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Global Conference & Exhibition. Professionals, from all over the world and within all sectors of the healthcare spectrum, converged in Orlando – from physicians and healthcare executives, to vendors and policymakers. I went in starry-eyed and full of excitement as the annual conference unfolded its keynotes, presentations, products, and people. For me, it was non-stop activity throughout the event but an eye-opening, memorable experience. It certainly made a lasting impression (and I’m not only referring to the physical impact it had, with almost 100,000 steps taken). (more…)

Imagine being on Apollo 8, on December 24, 1968, with the astronauts who became the first humans to circle the moon. The mission was historic but, the famous “Earthrise” photo that resulted, showing Earth rising above the lunar landscape was even more memorable. Up until that point, no human eyes had ever seen our blue marble from such a distance.  The photo has been described by Nature photographer Galen Rowell as, “the most influential environmental photograph ever taken.”   Ironically, of all the objectives NASA had set before launch, no one had thought of photographing the Earth from lunar orbit.  They did not predict the importance of that moment, and the photo that would forever change our view of the earth. Nonetheless, the moment was upon them and, they were ready.

Breaking Out Of Comfort Zones For New Possibilities

, National Director of Healthcare Services

Comfort Zones. We all have them. We approach our jobs in routine, ritualistic fashion, shop at the same stores, eat at the same restaurants, and solve problems in a way that feels the most comfortable to us. Many of us have seen, however, that when we break through them and challenge ourselves to try something new–learning a new skill for work, seeking a different type of vacation, trying out unfamiliar foods– the results can be dramatic. Bridging The Gap Between Automation And Innovation

, Vice President, Global Client Services and Solutions

Automation and Innovation. At first glance, these two words referenced in the same sentence could understandably be seen by some as a paradox. The irony is that one can create capacity for the other. The challenge lies in the inability of some businesses to leverage the newly-found free time created by automation into innovation. And that innovation comes in many forms; from more face time with clients to developing new products and business solutions. (more…)
