Change is in the Air: Transformation Underway

Konica Minolta has always been a brand with transformation and change as part of its DNA, ingrained in the company culture. From having a Minolta camera on the first American manned shuttle that went into space in 1962, to releasing the world’s first 35 mm camera with auto focus in 1977, we have had many world firsts. As our CEO Shoei Yamana mentioned in a recent interview with the Financial Times, innovation at Konica Minolta has historically been focused on ‘over engineering’ our products. In times of stability, such product innovations absolutely have their place. However, today our traditional market place has shrunk dramatically. For Konica Minolta to retain market relevancy, we have to shift our focus to customer value. It is definitely a very different focus to “how can we make our products better.” And so, over the last four years, Konica Minolta’s innovative journey has been accelerating like never before. With the establishment of our Business Innovation Centers, expansion of our R&D facilities globally, and our acquisitions, Konica Minolta is closer than ever to our clients. All this is supporting Konica Minolta’s transformation into a leading edge IT Services business. (more…)

10 Technologies Driving the Workplace of the Future™

, Director of Integrated Marketing, All Covered

WotF eBookWorking for a company that provides technology solutions means that it’s important for me to keep on top of technology trends. One clear way to do this is to look at current All Covered clients to see what challenges have been top of mind over the last year and to determine what services have been paramount to ongoing operations. The other valuable way is to look to industry leaders, such as Gartner.

I recently wrote the eBook (along with some very talented people here in the Konica Minolta marketing department), 10 Technologies Driving the Workplace of the Future™, and I knew I had to streamline intelligence from these various sources in order to make this eBook both accurate and interesting. In writing it, here are some of the most interesting developments I noticed:

Businesses want (and need) processes to be increasingly “smart.” From a simple profit standpoint, this makes total sense. Businesses want to assure that their resources – from employees to computers and servers – are being utilized efficiently. Companies also want to receive the best data they can on what is and isn’t working for them. That’s why I knew it was important to talk about both customer relationship management and business intelligence as well as digital ecosystems as technologies driving the Workplace of the Future. It’s clear that information gathering and sharing can empower a business if done properly – through solutions like robust, custom CRM solutions – as well as encouraging a connection between your products and services and your employees – allowing for smart decision-making. The Facts about Windows Server 2003 End of Support

, Vice President, Marketing, All Covered IT Services from Konica Minolta

WS-EOL-Campaign_500You may remember the buzz last year when Microsoft pulled the plug on its support of Windows XP. Less publicized, but perhaps even more critical, is the end of support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003. That is scheduled for July 14, 2015. Many businesses may be unaware, but there’s a good chance their most important computers are running on this soon-to-be-outdated operating system. They may be equally unaware that hanging on to Windows Server 2003 after Microsoft ends support in July will cost them plenty and could put their business at risk.

    How Vulnerable Is Your Business?

, Vice President, Marketing, All Covered IT Services from Konica Minolta

Customers, regardless of size or vertical industry, continuously tell us that security remains a top concern. It’s easy to see why when the news is filled with data breach stories regarding Kmart, Target, Dropbox, NATO, JP Morgan Chase, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services and St. Joseph Health System (just to name a few).

No business or organization is immune. Cyber security has become such a big concern that the Department of Homeland Security has declared October National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

    Navigating the Education Challenge

, Education Practice Director, All Covered

Mobile technology has changed the way people work, learn and communicate. Over the past few years, enterprise IT departments have embraced mobile technology and supported BYOD (bring your own device) policies. However, the mobile discussion isn’t limited to business. With 78 percent of teenagers using mobile devices, school districts have joined the BYOD conversation.

Leveraging mobile technology in the classroom helps engage students and makes learning more interactive. It is transforming the way students learn. It is also means that school districts need to adapt their IT infrastructure and policies to support a range of mobile devices and new online learning or social media tools. (more…)

The Long-term Benefits of Managed Print Services

, Senior Vice President, Business Intelligence Services

Managed Print Service (MPS) offerings have matured and customer expectations drive well beyond the simple cost consolidation and fleet optimization offered in the past.

When we launched our Optimized Print Services (OPS) back in 2008, customers were mainly concerned about cost management and reducing print assets. While this remains a key driver, customers now expect their strategic partner to combine consultancy, workflow efficiencies, print fleet optimization, software integration, service and support for hardware and implementation services. Protect Your Print – Secure Printing

    , Director, Business Development

In August 2013, it was determined that Affinity Health Plan — a New York-based managed care plan — owed the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights $1.2 million for violating HIPAA as part of a patient data breach case, reported Healthcare IT News.

“An HHS Office for Civil Rights investigation indicated that Affinity impermissibly disclosed the protected health information of these affected individuals when it returned multiple photocopiers to leasing agents without erasing the data contained on the copier hard drives.”

HIPAA regulations are not to be taken lightly.  It can cost businesses millions of dollars if the proper precautions are not taken when it comes to information sharing and organizational workflow.

There are those working outside the healthcare industry that need to equally protect sensitive patient information.  Take, for instance, Summit Educational Resources, a private organization in New York that provides education and therapeutic services to those with developmental disabilities.
